A Eumig Super 8 cinecamera was what my father used to record our family’s social history back in the sixties. And while the actual films have long since disapeared, I can still recall the care and enthusiasm with which they were shot and, in a darkened room, the excitement with which they were viewed. The love of film stayed with me through my school years where I produced our school’s version of Cinerella and then on my travels overseas my attempts to travel light were always compromised by the weight of a solid cine camera. In more recent years, with the advent of digital video cameras, I’ve been able to upgrade from super 8, through handycam, to broadcast quality HD equipment.
