Photogrphy is an artform and as with any artform there are numerous styles. While wildlife and nature interest me most as subject matter – ‘composition’ has always played a leading role in the development of my personal style. I grew up with a Kodak instamatic, dabbled with a Polaroid for a while and settled, as a schoolboy, on a robust Zenit SLR – purchasing lenses and developing equipment as and when I could afford them. That set-up lasted a long time and served me well, however, like most photographers I have made the inevitable switch to digital. Although, with a lifetime of happy snapping behind me, I am reluctant to let technology run away with the process, as I still believe that the artist’s eye is the most important element in creating an image.
